On the Fourth Day of Digital Leadership… Build the Right Team!

4. Build the right team
Early adopters, laggards, luddites: each nursery, school, university, college or workplace has its own unique mix. No different to any other form of leadership, building a strong and balanced team around you, with honest communication, will be key to your success. Eric Sheninger, Senior Fellow & Leader on Digital Leadership and Learning, International Center for Leadership in Education (ICLE) and former award-winning Principal at New Milford High School:
‘It was a lot of patience on my part. I had to focus my time and energy on those teachers who really had the drive to innovate, that weren’t afraid of failure. I basically selected five teachers that, no matter what, were going to focus on the kids.’
Lesson: Don’t try a be a pioneer or martyr and do everything on your own. Do build a team to complement your strengths and weaknesses and one which stretches from the senior leadership team all throughout the school or university professional team and student force. Digital leadership is hard, support one another by sharing the varied responsibilities.
