Al is CEO of NetSupport, with almost 30 years’ experience in all aspects of educational technology. Al has many roles outside of NetSupport, including Chair of a Multi-Academy Trust, Chair of an Alternative Provision Academy, Chair of the area’s Governors’ Leadership Group and county SEND Board.
Al also sits on the Regional Schools Commissioner’s Advisory Board supporting Academies across the south east of the UK. He’s a firm believer in lifelong learning so chairs his Combined Authorities Employment & Skills board as well as being a very active Apprenticeship ambassador for the region.
Al was elected Chair of the BESA’s EdTech Special Interest Group and is an Ambassador for Digital Poverty Alliance, plus a Council member for the Foundation for Education Development (FED). Al has also authored “My Secret #Edtech Diary” and co-authored the ‘Digital Strategy Guide for Schools’ as well as writing for a broad range of Education titles alongside regularly speaking at conferences internationally.

Sophie is passionate about lifelong and everyday learning. If she’s not interviewing a University Vice-Chancellor, Edtech Investor, School Leader, or StartUp about education innovation, she’s engrossed in Teach Your Monster to Read or wrestling her lockdown baby. A keen cyclist, she has recently relocated to West Devon which she considers the English version of the Pyrenees. She is very lucky to work with a distributed team on The Edtech Podcast.
