What’s in this episode?
SCHOOLS WEEK LIVE recorded from our podcast festival with Catherine Murray, Digital Editor, and Jess Staufenberg, Senior Reporter, at Schools Week commenting on everything from school transparency to national computing success. A great peek into English policy and news for our international listeners, PLUS hear about how you can place computer science undergraduates from Imperial College London into your schools AND why Bob Harrison (further education and digital leader) is unimpressed with the Department for Education’s five point plan on where tech might help in education.
Finally, a mention for the new Institute for Ethical AI in Education (IEAIED), plus listener voicemail messages and how you can road-test the latest edtech review portal.

- Road-test LendED – an online portal called LendEd which is designed to help teachers identify and evaluate relevant EdTech products. Each product on the site is provided by a BESA member and every product is available for teachers to trial without obligation before they purchase. Notes from BESA below:
- Before you start
- This is an early prototype of the site and as such some of the functionality is not working.
- · We have disabled some of the menu items for that reason
- · There will be additional products added to the site before we go live
- · If you find something that isn’t working properly, please make a note and add it to your feedback
- What to do
- 1. Visit LendEd. Have a look around and try to find a product/service that would be helpful for your school http://bollandlowe.net/dev/besa-lended
- 2. Request a free trial – this site is not live so your request will not be actioned
- 3. Once you have looked through the site in detail, please complete this survey. It will take less than 10 minutes to complete. You can access the survey via a pop-up at the foot or the site, or directly at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/LendED
- 4. Don’t forget to include your contact details at the end of the survey if you want to be added to our free prize draw to win £250 of vouchers of your choice. Entries close at 5pm on Monday 15 October.
