Tony Parkin
Disruptive Nostalgist
and Educational Technologist
Tony Parkin has worked in education for the greater part of his career, initially as a secondary school teacher, then education technologist, information technologist and curriculum director at an educational computing centre.
A brief stint working at the House of Commons Library as IT Training Manager preceded becoming Head of ICT Development in the SSAT's Leadership and Innovation Networks from 1998 – 2010, working with schools on their digital strategies, and on major education projects for the DfE, NCSL, and for several large IT companies.
He now works independently as a freelance speaker, lecturer, writer, mentor and consultant, using his extensive experience of educational technologies and social media to help with futures thinking and startup mentoring, initial and in-service teacher training, and writing articles exploring how technology can enhance learning.
